Battle At Franklin
The Civil War took place throughout much of Tennessee. The Civil War tour at the Carnton House comes up time and time again on top lists for activities in Franklin. The Battle at Franklin may be a lesser known war but it was very bloody. The Confederate States Army lost majorly on November 30th, 1864 with varying reports of loss of life between 4,500 and 6,200 plus.

Staying on the topic of the history of the Civil War, a tour through the Lotz House Museum is a must. Johann Albert Lotz traveled to the United States from Germany during the middle of the 1800s. Lotz was an expert woodworker and his house and furniture are works of art with craftsmanship not seen often today.

There is always a waitlist at Mellow Mushroom, located on the square of Downtown Franklin. There’s more than 20 beers and cocktails to choose from and the stone-baked pizza has die-hard fans. Mellow Mushrooms also has vegan and gluten-free options which is a welcomed plus. The Spinach Artichoke Dip is rich but deserving of a taste test.
