Smyrna offers its residents a dispersed suburban feel and most residents own their homes.Smyrna’s story begins during the middle of the 19th century as a thriving farming settlement with several plantations throughout. The Sam Davis Home is one such historically significant plantation. The estate spans 200-acres and offers an hour and a half long self-guided tour through the house where visitors can learn about what life was like on a Middle Tennessee plantation.
Smyrna became a town in 1869, but only in 1915 did the townspeople adopt a mayor. A significant chapter in Smyrna’s history is the railway. The town provided a refueling station for the railroad and brought in a boost to the local economy.
If you love lobster you must check out Cousins Maine Lobster in the heart of Smyrna. The namesake Lobster Roll is delicious, as is the Lobster BLT. Cousins is a popular chain and for good reason, the food is great.
